What is Solution Focused Hypnotherapy?​
Based on the latest neuro-scientific research, Solution Focused Hypnotherapy brings together Solution Focused Brief Psychotherapy which is a talking psychotherapy and a very, very relaxing Hypnotherapy session. People can intrigued by Hypnotherapy and trance and would like to try it but are often put off or fearful that trance is some strange form of mind control or that you will be asked to perform like Tom Jones or Madonna but please rest assured it is neither of these things! It has absolutely nothing to do with stage hypnotism which relies heavily on subjects having a deep desire to have their 15 minutes of fame!
Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a well researched and modern intervention that can help you understand you and your needs and support you in making positive changes to the way you think and operate to enable you to cope well with life and the challenges it throws at us. It can help you calm your mind and sleep better, this is through the use of trance which is something that we experience frequently during the day, for example when we are engrossed in a hobby, maybe watching the television or staring at the computer screen. During these sessions you will always be fully in control you will simply feel very relaxed.
As this is a solution focused therapy we will always be concentrating on what you want to achieve and how you would like your life to be 'the solutions' rather than focusing on what you don't want 'the problems'. There is a clear reason for this, when we focus on our problems our mind cannot see the positives and generally cannot see the solutions and therefore progress to feeling better or achieving our goals is impaired. So we focus on positives and solutions and that is why it's called a brief therapy, it tends to work quickly and generally clients need less sessions than other forms of therapy.
Solution focused hypnotherapy is not 'a cure' that the clinical hypnotherapist effects upon you for you to walk away transformed without any effort. It is reliant on the client carrying out some responsibility to engage with activities between sessions like listening to the free recorded language pattern that you should listen to every night before you sleep. However, it will help you change negative thought patterns and unhelpful behaviours and generally help you to cope, make positive changes, attain your goals and start to enjoy your life again.
